Shopify Shoes Try-On App — User Guide

WearFits Try-On is a Shopify app that enables customers to virtually try on shoes using Augmented Reality, directly on your storefront — no separate mobile app required.

  • Mobile shoppers see a "Try On" button that launches an AR viewer using their device camera.
  • Desktop shoppers see a "Try On" button that opens a QR code modal; scanning it with a phone launches the same AR experience.

First Steps: Onboarding Wizard

After installing the app, a five-step setup wizard runs automatically. You can leave and return at any time — the wizard resumes where you left off.

Step 1 — Welcome & Sync

The app introduces its features and automatically syncs your product categories from Shopify. Your current plan limits are shown here so you can plan your selections accordingly.

Step 2 — Category Selection

Select which product categories contain shoes. The app uses these selections to determine which products are eligible for 3D model generation.

Selecting only relevant shoe categories helps you stay within your plan's product limits and speeds up initial processing.

Step 3 — AI Validation

An AI service analyses a sample of products from each selected category to confirm they are shoes. A category passes validation when the majority of its sampled products are confirmed as footwear. Categories that fail are excluded from processing.

Step 4 — Summary & Priority

Review the validation results for all categories. You can drag to reorder categories and set which ones should be processed first when approaching plan limits. You also select a Demo Product — the first completed model will be used for a live preview on the Dashboard.

Step 5 — Completion

The wizard finalises configuration and starts background processing. You are redirected to the Dashboard. 3D model generation continues without requiring any further action.

Dashboard

The Dashboard is your central view of the app's status and activity.

Managing Try-Ons

The Try-Ons page gives granular control over which products show the AR button to shoppers.

Filtering the Product List

Use the filter bar to narrow the list:

Filter Shows
By category Products belonging to a specific shoe category
Enabled Products with try-on active and a ready 3D model
Disabled Products with try-on switched off manually
Waiting for plan slot Products with a ready model but no available slot in your current plan

Per-Product Actions

Individual Toggle — Enable or disable the AR button for a specific product without affecting others.

Remove from Try-On — Permanently frees the plan slot occupied by a product. Use this when you want to make room for a different product without upgrading your plan. The product can be re-added later if a slot becomes available.

Report Issue — If a 3D model looks wrong (incorrect colour, poor geometry, or wrong shoe), use this button to notify the WearFits support team. Each report creates a Quality Ticket that can be tracked in the app. See Support & Quality Tickets below.

Settings

The Settings page controls the global try-on state and the appearance of the "Try On" button.

Global Toggle

Enable or disable try-on for all products simultaneously. This is equivalent to the toggle on the Dashboard. Individual product settings are preserved — re-enabling the global toggle restores all products to their previous state.

Button Appearance

Setting Options
Button text Any string, e.g. "Try On", "See in AR", "View in AR"
Style Primary (filled), Secondary (outlined), Link (text only)
Position Above "Add to Cart", Below "Add to Cart", or Floating

Display Options

  • Mobile only — the button is hidden on desktop entirely.
  • Include QR code for desktop — desktop users see the button; clicking it opens a QR code modal that links to the mobile AR viewer.

Plan & Billing

Displays your current active plan and provides a link to the Shopify pricing page to upgrade or change your subscription. All billing is managed by Shopify; the app does not handle payments directly.

Reset Wizard

Re-runs the full onboarding wizard. Use this to re-sync categories, re-validate products, or reconfigure priorities from scratch. Existing 3D models and settings are not deleted by resetting the wizard.

Support & Quality Tickets

Quality issues can be reported directly from the Try-Ons product list using the "Report Issue" button on any product row.

Each report: 1. Creates a Quality Ticket in the app with a unique reference. 2. Automatically notifies the WearFits support team. 3. Is linked to the affected product and its current try-on URL.

Ticket status updates are visible in the app as the issue is reviewed and resolved. For general support enquiries, contact support@wearfits.com.

Billing Plans

Billing is fully managed by Shopify — they handle payments, free trials, and subscription changes. The app reads your active plan via Shopify's API and enforces product limits locally.

Plan Products with Try-On Monthly Price
Bronze 10 $49
Silver 100 $99
Gold 250 $199

A plan slot is consumed by any product that is either actively processing or has a ready 3D model. Products in the Waiting for plan slot state are queued and will be processed as slots become free (e.g., when other products are removed or the plan is upgraded).

To change your plan, go to Settings → Plan & Billing and follow the link to the Shopify pricing page.
